Justin Timberlake was responsible for sexy coming back, thenMiguel is the one who’s making sure it never leaves.
The Wildheart singer proved as much when he tributed JT at Bonnaroo’s annual Super Jam, during which several artists gather to cover classic songs. This year’s theme was “Heart, Soul & Spirit: A Tribute to Tennessee,” and featured jazz virtuoso Kamasi Washington as the bandleader. Michelle Williams from Destiny’s Child covered Earth, Wind & Fire, Stephan Jenkins from Third Eye Blind covered Johnny Cash, and to close out the night, Miguel put a sexy spin on Memphis native Timberlake’s “SexyBack.”
As purple lights flickered around the stage, Miguel drawled out the lyrics, inspiring a dance frenzy in the wee hours of the morning. Believe it or not, “SexyBack” turns 10 years old this summer, but Miguel’s performance proves the song’s as sexy as ever. See fan-shot footage of his performance below:
